Signature Cocktails

No one ever started a great story with "One time, when I was completely sober,..."

Cocktails are so much fun! They are easy to personalize and always get a party started. Here are the questions I usually ask my clients to help guide them in the right cocktail direction!

What is your favorite spirit?

You can choose from whisky, vodka, gin, bourbon... the list is long. This is always your starting point. Everything gets built from this base, so it's important that you choose a good quality spirit. If you don't like any spirits at all, you can choose a wine, beer, or champagne as your base as well.

Do you like sweet, sour, savory, frozen, or hot?

This next step will help inform what direction you will take the spirit in. Almost all spirits can be sweet, sour, or savory, so don't worry too much about sticking to the common combinations. Get experimental!

Do you have a specific theme you want the cocktail to reflect?

Cocktails are great at enhancing a theme. If it's a tropical themed party, I would expect to see some kind of fruity drink with a tiny umbrella. Get creative with your serving glasses and garnish. Even if someone doesn't happen to like the drink itself, they will probably still put that orchid that was on the glass behind their ear for the evening. I call that a win.

What do you want to call it?

Naming drinks is probably the most fun. A client named Martín named his cocktail the "Martín-ee". How funny is that?! Come on! That's hilarious! Whatever you decide to call it, it should reflect you as a person and your theme. Let your mind wander. You got this!
